New Board of Directors to lead CIRA into its tenth year of operations
Ottawa, October 16, 2009 - The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is pleased to announce the Officers of its Board of Directors and Committee Members for the 2009-2010 board term. CIRA's newly minted 15-person Board of Directors appointed its Vice-Chair, Committee Chairs, and Members during its first meeting held in Ottawa on October 15, 2009.
2009-2010 Board Officers:
Chair: Paul Andersen (appointed on October 9, 2008 for a three-year term)
Vice-Chair: Richard Anderson (appointed for a one-year term)
Secretary: Michael Stewart, CIRA’s General Counsel and Director of Policy Development
2009-2010 Board Committees:
The CIRA Board maintains four Committees focused on specific strategic areas of the organization. Members of these Committees and its Chairs are appointed for a one-year term.

CIRA's Board of Directors is comprised of 12 elected members, plus CIRA’s President and CEO, a representative of the Government of Canada, and dot-ca pioneer John Demco, who sit on the Board as ex-officio, non-voting Directors. The Board of Directors set the policies and strategies that support Canada's Internet community and users. Members of CIRA’s Board of Directors participate in regular Board meetings and extensive committee work to develop the policies that govern Canadian Internet domains and involvement in the international bodies that regulate the Internet.
