Media Advisory: Obama’s Social Media Team Member Keynote Speaker at CIRA’s Annual Meeting in Toronto

September 21, 2009 – The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) will hold its 2009 Annual General Meeting (AGM) tomorrow in Toronto.  New media expert and member of Barack Obama’s social media team, Rahaf Harfoush will speak at the event, sharing her experiences around building effective online strategies that create meaningful conversation with employees, consumers and the general public.

Torontonian, Rahaf Harfoush is a social media strategist on the rise.  Her interest in technology's impact on governance, education and the workplace began as an analyst at Don Tapscott's thinktank, where she published whitepapers on topics including the Net Generation and women and the web.  In love with the written word, Harfoush is the author of Yes We Did, a book about the grassroots groundswell inspired by the Obama campaign which was published in May 2009.  To view Rahaf Harfoush’s full biography, please visit: https://agm.cira.ca/en/speaker.html.

CIRA’s AGM is an important event for its Members and all Canadians. At this year’s AGM, CIRA will be presenting proposed changes to its By-Law and informing members of its current direction, financial health and strategic focus for the future.  

The Canadian Internet Registration Authority is the not-for-profit, Canadian corporation recognized by the Government of Canada to manage the dot-ca (.ca) Internet domain for all Canadians. CIRA is responsible for registering all .ca domain names and administering the technical operation of the central, national registry, ensuring a stable, secure and efficient infrastructure that is accessible for all Internet users connecting with .ca domains.
